Lynn Werre's Instructional Design Portfolio
Standard 5 Artifacts
The artifacts for this standard were chosen because they demonstrate my ability explore, evaluate, synthesize, and apply methods of inquiry to enhance learning and improve performance.
Each artifact features a button that will take you directly to the full artifact for further examination.

S.5.1. Theoretical Foundations
For my Foundations in Educational Research course, I wrote a literature review on current research regarding the emotional and psychosocial adjustment of military dependents being educated in civilian schools versus those educated in military schools. This paper demonstrates my foundational knowledge of research contributions to the past and current theory of educational communications and technology. For this paper, it was necessary for me to review educational research regarding the psychosocial development of military children and compare it to the psychosocial development of military children specifically being educated in civilian schools. It demonstrates my ability to find peer-reviewed research, analyze findings, and synthesize them into a literature review to give an overview of current and past research on this topic. This paper also demonstrates my ability to apply research methodologies to solve problems and enhance practice.
This project demonstrates my competency at identifying discrepancies based on data collection and identifying appropriate source documentation to support analysis.

S.5.3. Assessing/Evaluating
This artifact was created for my Motivational Design course to demonstrate my knowledge of applying motivational principles to learning design and development. This meets the standard of applying research methodologies to solve problems and enhance practice.
In this paper, I discuss ways to improve third-graders motivation during math class to learn how to multiply numbers using addition. The lesson plan takes advantage of a constructivist strategy where the lesson is set in an environment that the students are familiar with (their school's annual Falcon Festival) and that they enjoy.
This assignment meets the competencies of of analyzing the characteristics of a job, task, or body of knowledge, developing a target audience profile, and identifying the appropriate source documentation to support analysis.

S.5.3. Assessing/Evaluating
This artifact was created for my Interactive Media course. The assignment was to choose one of Mayer's Multimedia Principles and create a video presentation. I chose to do my presentation on the Temporal Contiguity principle, which states that students learn better when text and images are presented together than when they are presented separately. This artifact demonstrates my ability to apply formal inquiry strategies to assess and evaluate resources for learning and performance.
This assignment meets the competencies of of analyzing the characteristics of a job, task, or body of knowledge, identifying the appropriate source documentation to support analysis, identifying instructional media options that address training needs, and understanding video production/postproduction and courseware production.
